The Laramie Project
by Moisés Kaufman
A production under the visionary direction of Laura Turner & Joseph Tanti
The Laramie Project is one of the most powerful ensemble plays of our time. Based on over 400 real interviews with residents of Laramie, Wyoming, the play explores how an ordinary community responds to an extraordinary act of hate: the 1998 murder of 21-year-old University of Wyoming student Matthew Shepard.
Rather than focusing solely on the crime, The Laramie Project looks deeper into the people, values, and contradictions of a town searching for meaning and compassion.
In this YAA Stage Actors production, 24 young performers bring more than 60 characters to life - from ranchers and teachers to waitresses, ministers, and students - revealing the humanity, heartbreak, and hope at the heart of this true story.
The Laramie Project stands as both a memorial to Matthew Shepard and a powerful reflection on how communities confront intolerance and find empathy in the face of tragedy. This is storytelling at its most honest, raw, and deeply human.
🏆 Flight Path Theatre is a wheelchair-friendly venue.
