Wicked Character Guide
Fiyero is the carefree, handsome prince who arrives at Shiz University determined not to care about anything. He hides behind charm and cynicism. But Elphaba makes him want to be better, and he eventually risks everything to stand with her against the Wizard.
Fiyero moves with effortless cool. He leans, he strolls, he never hurries. Dancing Through Life is his philosophy made physical, everything is casual, nothing matters, just dance. But as the show progresses, his carelessness is replaced by intention. His movements become purposeful, directed, passionate. He stops performing cool and starts being brave.
For Shiz, an unbuttoned collar, casually stylish shirt in white or light blue. Sleeves rolled up. For later scenes, a more structured jacket showing he has grown up.
Slim, well-fitted trousers. He dresses well but makes it look effortless.
A loosened tie or open collar. Nothing too put-together. He looks good without trying.
Brown or tan dress shoes or boots. Comfortable and understated.
Tousled, slightly messy but attractive. The kind of hair that looks good without effort.
For his transformation into the Scarecrow, burlap or hay-coloured fabric additions to his costume. This can be a quick overlay or partial costume change.
Best for ages 13-17. Fiyero suits charismatic dancers with strong jazz ability and natural stage presence. The role needs someone who can play both charm and sincerity convincingly. Partnering skills needed for duets with Elphaba and Glinda.
