An Evening with Chris Beard of The Purple Gang fame plus support

The Purple Gang were more 60s Jug Band revivalists than anything else. Their 1967 single “Granny Takes a Trip”, despite one word in the title caused them problems. The BBC banned it from their airwaves even though it was not about “acid”. The band were signed to John Peel’s Dandelion Records, but after the ban by the BBC the Purple Band broke up. Chris Joe Beard now lives locally and is a singer/songwriter of great note. No doubt at this show he will take us on a trip back to the 60s.
