Tangled Character Guide
Flynn Rider is the charming thief who stumbles into Rapunzel's tower and gets far more than he bargained for. His real name is Eugene Fitzherbert, an orphan who invented a cool alter ego to survive. He is sarcastic, self-serving, and gradually discovers that someone else's dream matters more than his own.
Flynn moves with practised swagger. He leans against things, smirks, poses in profile. Everything is calculated to look effortlessly cool. His signature move is the smoulder, a deliberate, over-the-top attempt at charm that never works on Rapunzel. As the story progresses, the swagger fades and Eugene emerges, more honest, more vulnerable, more real.
A blue vest over a white shirt with the sleeves rolled to the elbows. The vest should look rugged but stylish. Brown leather belt.
Dark brown fitted pants tucked into knee-high boots. Adventurer style without being too polished.
A leather satchel for the stolen crown. Wanted poster props are great comedy pieces. Optional sword or dagger props.
Brown boots or brown character shoes.
Medium-length brown hair, slightly tousled. Styled enough to look good but casual enough to seem accidental.
The frying pan becomes his accidental weapon. Multiple frying pans appearing throughout the show is a running joke. The wanted posters with his nose drawn wrong are a great recurring gag.
Best for ages 12-17. Flynn needs a charismatic performer with comedic skills and the ability to partner well. The role suits dancers comfortable with character work and physical comedy. Strong jazz technique helps.
