Stitch

Stitch is Experiment 626, a genetically engineered alien designed for destruction. He crash-lands in Hawaii, is adopted by Lilo as a dog, and slowly learns about love and family. He goes from chaos incarnate to a loyal, protective member of the family.

Personality for Dance

Stitch moves with wild, unpredictable energy. He scrambles, leaps, rolls, and crashes into things. He is incredibly strong and fast but has no social skills. Everything is new to him. He sniffs objects, tastes things he should not, and reacts with his whole body. As the story progresses, his movement calms slightly. He starts mirroring Lilo, trying her dances, sitting when she sits. The shift from destructive alien to loving family member should be gradual and visible.

The Outfit

Top

Blue bodysuit or fitted blue long-sleeved top as the base. The blue should be a bright, saturated blue matching the character. Add texture if possible with a slightly fuzzy or velour fabric.

Bottom

Matching blue leggings or shorts depending on choreography needs. Keep the silhouette close to the body so it reads as his alien form.

Accessories

Blue face paint with a darker blue nose tip. Large ears made from fabric on a headband, positioned to stick outward and slightly upward. These are essential for recognition.

Shoes

Blue soft shoes or bare feet if possible. His feet should not draw attention away from the character work.

Hair

Hidden under a blue hood or bald cap. Stitch has no hair. A small mohawk-style ridge along the centre of the head is accurate but optional.

A Hawaiian shirt for the scenes where Lilo dresses him up. This quick costume addition gets a laugh every time. Consider small extra arms sewn to the sides of the bodysuit for the reveal of his true alien form.

Movement Tips

Start with completely alien movement. Stitch does not walk like a human. He crouches, he scuttles, he moves on all fours.
Break things with your body language. Crash into the set, knock things over, catch yourself off furniture.
The transformation should track through movement quality. Early scenes are chaotic, later scenes have moments of stillness and tenderness.
Mirror Lilo during learning moments. Copy her hula hands awkwardly. Try to sit nicely and fail.
Physical comedy is everything. Reactions should be full-body and huge.

Age Recommendations

Best for ages 8-14. Stitch needs a dancer with high energy, comfort with physical comedy, and the stamina to maintain intense movement throughout the show. The role rewards fearless performers who love character work.
