Lilo & Stitch Character Guide
Jumba Jookiba is the alien scientist who created Stitch. He is sent to Earth to recapture his experiment but eventually becomes part of the family. He is loud, eccentric, and treats everything like a science project, including emotions.
Jumba moves with big, expansive energy. He takes up space in every room. His arms swing wide, his steps are heavy, and his reactions are enormous. He is a large personality in every sense. When he is chasing Stitch, he is clumsy and destructive. When he eventually joins the family, his bigness becomes warm instead of threatening. He hugs too hard, laughs too loud, and cares too much.
A lab coat or oversized Hawaiian shirt for the Earth scenes. The lab coat should look well-worn with stains and patches. Once he joins the family, the Hawaiian shirt replaces the lab coat.
Baggy trousers or cargo shorts. Nothing fitted. Jumba is not concerned with fashion.
Oversized goggles or glasses pushed up on the forehead. A utility belt or bag of gadgets. Scientific props like beakers or scanners for the early scenes.
Large, clunky boots or shoes. Everything about Jumba is oversized.
Wild, unkempt hair or a bald cap with tufts on the sides. The look should be mad scientist meets Hawaiian vacation.
Padding to create a larger silhouette works well. A purple or greyish skin tone with face paint adds to the alien look. Four eyes can be suggested with an extra pair of goggles on the forehead.
Best for ages 12 and up. Jumba is a fantastic character role for a dancer who loves physical comedy and being the biggest presence on stage. The role works well for dancers of any body type and celebrates taking up space.
