Six Sunday St George Strolls at 11am
Did you know the world’s most prolific serial killer was born and raised in St George? That Queen Elizabeth I processed in state along Church Road? And that the Fire Engine pub had nothing to do with putting out fires?
Today’s St George is much loved and lived in with a thriving high street, but it was once the boundary of the Royal Forest of Kingswood. Our 2 hour tour covers 800 years and includes a rare medieval survivor, a Tudor monarch and the grand tombs and monuments of the industrialists whose Victorian collieries and factories swept away the old market gardens and changed the landscape forever.
Meet St George’s Saints and Sinners - and the many ordinary folk whose lives were every bit as extraordinary.
We piloted this tour in the spring and audiences said,
‘Brilliant show, thank you’
